Gringo
We knew we liked the folks at Gringo Nordic as soon as we met them. Johan lives and breathes coffee. Starting his career as a hobby roaster, we have worked with him since he roasted coffee at Johan & Nyström. Then, after buying his own coffee farm in Colombia, Johan started Gringo Nordic with his wife Pernilla and friend Magnus.
Gringo’s coffee farm in Cauca, Colombia is a passion project, developing Finca La Tierra into a sustainable specialty coffee plantation. Shade and fruit trees have been planted together with several new coffee varieties, and they have started to fertilise organically and cultivate naturally. The coffee produced by the farm has continued to grow in quality since Gringo bought the farm, resulting in a full flavour coffee with fruit tones adding complexity and a soft character.
Gringo Nordic has a simple approach to creating fine coffee. There are no shortcuts. Gringo roasts all its coffee, including ours, with a slow roast method – by hand and in small batches – on the most energy-efficient roasting machine on the planet. Using airflow technology to maintain the coffee’s original character, the beans in their blends are 100% traceable, specialty coffees from individual farms, plantations and cooperatives – and they taste fantastically good!
Örum now has its own unique blends – an espresso blend and a filter brew – roasted in central Gothenburg by the dedicated coffee roasters at Gringo Nordic. Together with our new espresso machine and some freshly baked goods from our artisan bakery, we hope to offer a pretty good Fika.
