Whichford Pottery

At Örum 119, our handmade pots are turned in the North Cotswolds by the skilled potters at Whichford Pottery.

As recent graduates from Cambridge, Jim and Dominique Keeling moved to Shipton on Stour in the mid-1970s to raise a family and set up a pottery workshop. The aim was to create pottery built on English traditions and make it flourish in competition with cheap machine-made pots.

Today, the couple run Whichford Pottery with three of their five children and an experienced team, all dedicated to keeping traditional pot making alive. The Keeling family make their own clay mix sourced from three different regional clays. Prepared on-site, the mixed clay is passed directly to the throwers, who create the pots on traditional potters’ wheels. And because everything at Whichford is done in-house, the pots are produced with a hands-on approach and are of the highest quality.

In creating a curated experience at Örum 119 we have found like minded friends in the makers at Whichford Pottery and we’re thrilled to have their handmade pots at our hotel.
